In the 2012 award-winning series Money, Power and Wall Street, FRONTLINE tells the story of the struggles to repair the economy after the 2008 financial crisis, exploring key decisions, missed opportunities, and the uneasy partnership between leaders of government and finance.

In part one of Money, Power and Wall Street, FRONTLINE correspondent Martin Smith interviews leading bankers, government officials and journalists to chart the epic rise of a new financial order—and the trouble that followed. As Wall Street innovated, its revenues skyrocketed, and financial institutions of all stripes tied their fortunes to one another. Smith probes deeply into the story of the big banks—how they developed, how they profited, and how the model that produced unfathomable wealth planted the seeds of financial destruction.
FRONTLINE’s veteran financial and political producers Michael Kirk (The Choice 2020: Trump Vs. Biden, United States of Conspiracy), Martin Smith (The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, The Pension Gamble), Marcela Gaviria (The Virus: What Went Wrong?, Separated: Children at the Border) and Tom Jennings (Right to Fail, Opioids Inc.) team up to present this Emmy Award-winning documentary series.

The Matrix released in 1999 and changed pop culture forever. In this Documentary we explore the film through the cultural moments that influenced it.
By tapping into the Zeitgeist we will better understand how classic films like The Matrix manage to stay relevant in todays busy world...perhaps there is something more fundamental being echoed in such works of art.

Watch the final episode of “The Power of Big Oil,” a three-part FRONTLINE docuseries investigating what scientists, corporations and politicians have known about human-caused climate change for decades — and the missed opportunities to mitigate the problem.

Throughout the first two episodes of “The Power of Big Oil,” FRONTLINE went inside the fossil fuel industry’s efforts in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s to stall action on climate change by cultivating denial and doubt.
The third and final episode of the series brings the story up to the present.
“Delay,” part three of “The Power of Big Oil,” investigates how, even as the warnings about climate change grew, the U.S. reemerged as one of the world's biggest oil and gas producers, and the fossil fuel industry worked to delay the transition to renewable energy sources — including by promoting natural gas as a cleaner alternative. But as the country was entering a gas boom, a former Exxon Mobil engineer tells FRONTLINE that the industry wasn’t monitoring for methane leaks that could turbo-charge the climate crisis.
As it brings the Big Oil series to a close, “Delay” unpacks the Obama, Trump and Biden administrations’ actions on climate change; explores what may happen next; and examines what’s at stake.

Exploding real estate prices, zero interest rate and a rising stock market – the rich are getting richer. What danger lies in wait for average citizens?
For years, the world’s central banks have been pursuing a policy of cheap money. The first and foremost is the ECB (European Central Bank), which buys bad stocks and bonds to save banks, tries to fuel economic growth and props up states that are in debt. But what relieves state budgets to the tune of hundreds of billions annoys savers: interest rates are close to zero.
The fiscal policies of the central banks are causing an uncontrolled global deluge of money. Experts are warning of new bubbles. In real estate, for example: it’s not just in German cities that prices are shooting up. In London, a one-bed apartment can easily cost more than a million Euro. More and more money is moving away from the real economy and into the speculative field. Highly complex financial bets are taking place in the global casino - gambling without checks and balances. The winners are set from the start: in Germany and around the world, the rich just get richer. Professor Max Otte says: "This flood of money has caused a dangerous redistribution. Those who have, get more." But with low interest rates, any money in savings accounts just melts away. Those with debts can be happy. But big companies that want to swallow up others are also happy: they can borrow cheap money for their acquisitions. Coupled with the liberalization of the financial markets, money deals have become detached from the real economy. But it’s not just the banks that need a constant source of new, cheap money today. So do states. They need it to keep a grip on their mountains of debt. It’s a kind of snowball system. What happens to our money? Is a new crisis looming? The film 'The Money Deluge' casts a new and surprising light on our money in these times of zero interest rates.

May 11th 1996, a fast moving storm trapped three climbing teams high atop Mt Everest. The exhausted climbers were soon lost in a fierce blizzard and far from the safety of Camp 4 at 26,000 feeet. Renowned Climber/filmmaker David Breasheers, who was on the mountain that fateful day, returns to Everest to tell the complete story of what really happened on that legendary climb.
------1996 Mt Everest Disaster-------
The 1996 Mount Everest disaster occurred on 10–11 May 1996, when eight climbers caught in a blizzard died on Mount Everest while attempting to descend from the summit. Over the entire season, 12 people died trying to reach the summit, making it the deadliest season on Mount Everest at the time and the third deadliest after the 16 fatalities of the 2014 Mount Everest avalanche and the 22 resulting from avalanches caused by the April 2015 Nepal earthquake. The 1996 disaster received widespread publicity and raised questions about the commercialization of Everest.
Numerous climbers were at a high altitude on Everest during the storm, including the Adventure Consultants team, led by Rob Hall, and the Mountain Madness team, led by Scott Fischer. While climbers died on both the North Face and South Col approaches, the events on the South Face were more widely reported. Four members of the Adventure Consultants expedition perished, including Hall, while Fischer was the sole casualty of the Mountain Madness expedition. Three officers of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police also died.

The System of Money - This film presents serious research and verifiable evidence on our economic and financial system.
The System of Money (2012)
Director: Michael Oswald
Writers: Mike Horwath, Michael Oswald
Stars: Ben Dyson, Anne Belsey, Noel Longhurst
Genre: Documentary
Country: United Kingdom
Language: English
Release Date: 1 May 2012 (UK)
Filming Location: London, England, UK
Storyline:
97% owned present serious research and verifiable evidence on our economic and financial system. This is the first documentary to tackle this issue from a UK-perspective and explains the inner workings of Central Banks and the Money creation process. When money drives almost all activity on the planet, it's essential that we understand it. Yet simple questions often get overlooked, questions like; where does money come from? Who creates it? Who decides how it gets used? And what does this mean for the millions of ordinary people who suffer when the monetary, and financial system, breaks down? Produced by Queuepolitely and featuring Ben Dyson of Positive Money, Josh Ryan-Collins of The New Economics Foundation, Ann Pettifor, the "HBOS Whistleblower" Paul Moore, Simon Dixon of Bank to the Future and Nick Dearden from the Jubliee Debt Campaign.
Reviews:
"Simple facts described in a plain and simple manner : the building stone of economy is how money is created. And, most importantly, debt is explained : that there is no economy w/out debt. Debt is core. It's all about the control of debt, and who "owns" debts.
As is, debt is as important a concept, as creation of money is. And this is not at all about some 3% of coin & paper money in the system, it's essentially about some 97++% of 'virtual' money being send back and fro. And about a specific type of money that only exsists and can be used with, for instance, the Bank of England -- and nowhere else.
A complicated system which evolved from simple facts when law decided to forbid private banks to issue their own paper & coin money in the 19th century.
But then somehow, and it's not a mystery, private banks still keep on issuing money (tho not their own paper & coin notes)
and that is, in essence, what this doumentary is about : the how, when and why.
A must watch, to be honest and a 10-star docu if only the female narrator's voice would not have been mixed in in such a shallow manner (often too hard too grasp; a pity) : it deserves a clear firm straight sound given that the documentary itself is profoundly clear." -Written by artiszt on IMDb.com
