We Are Just Starting! | Arikana Chihombori, PLO Lumumba, Peter Obi React To being Cancelled In Ghana
PLO Lumumba, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao and Peter Obi say the conversation on Pan Africanism is just starting. That was the conclusion of 3 of the main speakers at the press conference after The Convention 2024 was cancelled at the very last moment with all guests having arrived! New Africa Foundation's Pan African event, The Convention 2024, which was meant to feature guest speakers like Professor P. L. O. Lumumba, Julius Malema, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, and Peter Obi was cancelled at the last minute by the Ghanaian police on the orders of the authorities. The were joined at the press conference by Nana Kwame Bediako who is the brain behind The Convention 2024. The event had been scheduled to take place on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Independence Square, coinciding with Ghana’s Constitution Day.
The organisers described the cancellation as shocking as they claimed government had approved the event as far back as November 2023 and apologised to the disappointed patrons.

Arikana Chihombori-Quao is a medical doctor and activist. She is the CEO and founder of Bell Family Medical Centers in the United States and was appointed the African Union representative to the United States of America in 2016.
Chihombori-Quao’s name trended across the African Twittersphere when a video of her speaking candidly about her take on the state of Africa and its link to colonialism went viral. This was not the first time the doctor made such remarks, but perhaps the first time her views were this widely spread among Africans both on the continent and in the diaspora.
Dr Arikana Chihombori-Quao’s thoughts on the colonial legacy of countries like France on Africa went viral earlier this month. A few weeks later, she was excused from her role as permanent AU representative to the United States of America.

The African Diaspora Development Institute (The ADDI) is an entity that was born out of the realization that there is no one stop shop for everything African. Business Communities around the world, African Diaspora, or people interested in African tourism have to visit 55 African countries in order to find out information about Africa. There’s definitely a need for a one-stop organization where people can go to get information about Africa.

Roland Martin and the #RolandMartinUnfiltered cameras attended the HBCU Africa Homecoming Media Launch on Monday. The event marked a starting point for the African Diaspora Nation to launch a one-stop clearing house to expand educational and economic opportunity exchange between Africa and Black America.
During the launch, Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao, the Permanent Representative of the African Union Representational Mission to the United States of America offered a masterful history lesson breaking down how Africa was divided into tiny little countries during the Berlin Conference of 1884 and how the nations of Africa are still being adversely impacted.
Dr. Arikana Chihombori-Quao also dissected "the pact for the continuation of colonization."
The media launch program line-up included opening remarks by Her Excellency Dr. Arikana Chihombori Quao, African Union Ambassador to the United States and official remarks from Dr. Ronald Johnson, member of the United States President’s Advisory Board on HBCUs. Mr. Johnson also serves as Chairman of the Consumer Advisory Board of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and is immediate past president of Clark Atlanta University.
