Massive Anti-Racism Protests in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool & Newcastle

After far-right protesters, anti-racism protesters have hit the streets in parts of the UK. Massive anti-fascist and anti-racism rallies were held in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Liverpool and Newcastle to oppose days of far-right violence. In Aldershot, anti-racism protesters clashed with anti-migrant protesters. The UK government has deployed 6,000 specialist police on standby to control the violence. Several courts have ordered jail terms for offenders tied to unrest. Far-right protests erupted after the Southport stabbing attack. On July 29, a stabbing attack in Southport killed three children. Rumours over the background of the 17-year-old UK-born attacker triggered the violence that led to attacks on mosques and migrant facilities. Earlier, protesters attacked police officers and torched vehicles. Disorder marks the UK’s worst unrest since the 2011 London riots.

The protests disrupted flights at the airport, which were redirected to the neighbouring French island of Guadeloupe, the local administration said. It added that it was banning public gatherings until Monday and banning the purchase of products that could be used for arson attacks
